UPDATE: 19-JUN-2004: FIRST MUONS DETECTED!!! :-)
I hooked up 2 Geiger Müller Tubes on the power supply,
using the new coincidence circuit and had a very successful first run.
Based on visual observation of the LEDs:
1 muon every 5 to 15 seconds
background of > 60 per minute
Both tubes: CK1049 @ about 900V
UPDATE: 14-MAR-2004: The power supply is working fine - just needs a housing. I did some testing with
a prototype detector today (normal air pressure inside the detector). At about 1200V it starts to register
counts and at about 1500V secondary effects start. I use a 10MOhm resistor for R3, R1 = 120kOhm, without the
zener-diode directly to the 555 mono-flop (see Electronics).
